MEET THE TEAM
Welcome to The Home Outpost—we’re so glad you’re here. Around here, we believe great design changes everything. Staging isn’t just furniture to us; it’s storytelling. Every home we stage is designed with intention—so buyers don’t just see a house, they feel it. They imagine themselves living there before they even reach the back door. That feeling? It’s what sells homes, and we’re passionate about creating it.
But we’re not just a staging company. We’re also home to a 12,000-square-foot showroom filled with furniture, art, rugs, décor, gifts, and one-of-a-kind pieces—all curated with the same care and style we bring to our staging projects. Whether you’re here to shop, be inspired, or get your home market-ready, we’re here to help you create spaces that feel elevated, inviting, and impossible to forget.
Rooted in the beauty of the Colorado mountains, we mix modern lines, rugged textures, and soulful details to create spaces that feel as good as they look. This is what we love. This is what we do. And it works.
MARGIE HAMRICK
Founder & Creative Director
In my world, interior design is transformation—pure and simple. I’ve always believed that a home should stir something in you. It should reflect your story, quiet your mind, and elevate your everyday. My love for design was born right here in the Vail Valley, flipping homes, staging them with intention, and watching buyers fall in love before they ever made it to the back door. Over time, that passion became a business—and The Home Outpost was born.
I’m inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us in the mountains. By quiet neutrals, raw textures, weathered woods, earthy stone, and furniture that’s modern, refined, and grounded in warmth. My interior designs embrace the perfection of imperfection—because that’s where the soul of a home truly lives.
The vibe lives in the blend—where old meets new, rugged meets refined, and the unexpected makes everything come alive.
Design, at its core, is emotional. And I’ve learned that when a space transforms, so do the people who live in it. That transformation is what fuels everything I do. Whether we’re staging a sleek new build or refreshing a mountain home with decades of stories, we approach each project with vision, heart, and purpose.
I’m endlessly grateful for my husband Mike—my quiet business partner and greatest supporter—and for our powerhouse team, including Jennifer Sanchez and Sarah Blandford, whose creativity and dedication bring our designs to life. I’m also grounded by the unwavering love of my family - my Lovies are my everything. They’re my heart, my motivation, and the reason I show up every day with purpose and passion. Together, we’ve built something that’s bigger than furniture and staging—it’s about living beautifully and creating spaces that make people feel deeply at home.

When did you begin your journey into interior decorating and home staging?
Creativity has always been at the heart of everything I do. I started my career designing hair in Denver, where I learned the power of aesthetics and personal expression. That passion eventually led me to work with a respected local interior design firm, where I spent years refining my eye for space, color, and detail. My journey with The Home Outpost began when I jumped onto the back of one of their trucks to help load furniture—unplanned but perfectly aligned. From that moment on, I knew I had found my place. The rest is history.
What is your favorite decorating style?
I’m drawn to Mountain Modern—a style that perfectly reflects our Colorado landscape. I love merging rustic textures with clean lines and elevated finishes to create spaces that are both grounded and sophisticated.
What is the most rewarding aspect of decorating and staging?
I thrive on the variety and challenge. No two homes are alike, and each project gives me a new creative puzzle to solve. But beyond that, the real reward comes from seeing the positive impact our work has. Helping clients sell their homes faster—and seeing their relief and joy—is incredibly fulfilling. I love creating spaces that buyers can emotionally connect with and imagine themselves living in.
What’s your favorite type of project to stage?
Definitely a new build. There’s something magical about shaping a space from the ground up—taking a blank canvas and transforming it into a warm, welcoming, and stylish home.
How long have you been in the business?
I’ve been in the design and staging world for over 16 years, and I feel incredibly grateful to still be doing what I love every day.
Where are you from?
I’m a proud Colorado native, and bringing beauty and intention into mountain homes feels like second nature.
What inspires you personally?
My faith has always been my foundation. It guides how I treat others, how I approach my work, and how I see the beauty in transformation—both in people and in places.

When did you decide to become an interior decorator?
I knew I wanted to be a decorator at 16, when my best friend and I pulled an all-nighter hanging wallpaper while her parents were out of town. While most teens might have thrown a party, we decided the kitchen needed a makeover. Her parents were pleasantly shocked when they came home—and I was hooked.
What is your favorite decorating style?
I follow the 80/20 rule of design: 80% of the furniture and accessories are cohesive and well-coordinated, while the remaining 20% is reserved for personality—quirky touches, vintage pieces, or meaningful accents that give the space heart and soul. It keeps things fresh, fun, and full of character.
What is the most rewarding aspect of decorating and design?
While furnishing a brand-new home is always exciting, I find just as much reward in breathing new life into older spaces. Rearranging a client’s existing furniture to improve flow and functionality—and then layering in new pieces that blend seamlessly—is often where the real magic happens. It’s about honoring what’s already there while helping the home evolve.
What would be your dream decorating project?
Honestly, I love working right here in the Vail Valley. The cultural diversity of homeowners creates a unique mix of styles—from rustic mountain lodges to sleek, modern escapes. Every project gives me a chance to create a sense of warmth and connection. That said, if George Lucas or Steven Spielberg ever calls for a set designer—I’ll be ready!
How long have you been an interior decorator?
Let’s just say… ever since that wallpaper all-nighter at 16!
